Senior pictures
in merced, california

Senior year is special. It is a year people write songs about and make movies about. High school might not end up being the most important chapter of your life, but it is one of the only times in life with a clear ending. Your senior pictures should help you remember this time and someday remind you of who you were and who you were becoming. Martinez Photography & Design photographs high school seniors in Merced, Atwater, Dos Palos, Los Banos, and throughout the Central Valley. Senior year may not be the whole story, but it is still a chapter worth preserving.

We use a questionnaire to learn about each senior’s interests, achievements, and plans for what comes next. Those answers help us choose locations, suggest outfits, and include details that matter to them. We have a distinct photographic style, but we also value collaboration. We want every set of photographs to look like our work without making every senior look the same.

"My daughter’s senior photos turned out beautifully! Nick really listened to her vision and spent time helping to scope out the perfect setting. He even had a changing tent so she could swap outfits on site. I highly recommend Martinez Photography to capture your family’s special moments."

FAQs

What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?

Good news: none of our seniors are models, and we’re a little awkward too. We direct, pose, and prompt each client to help them feel confident and natural. The senior questionnaire helps us learn a little about you before the session, which helps us personalize our direction, poses, and prompts. We start with simple poses, then get more creative and adventurous toward the end of the session.

Which senior session should I choose?

The Mini Session ($150) is ideal for one outfit, one location, and a focused collection of senior portraits in 30 minutes.

The Portrait Session ($250) offers more variety, with 75 minutes, two nearby locations, and time for two outfits. A third simple look may fit depending on outfit changes and travel time.

The Story Session ($400) gives us up to two hours to explore multiple nearby settings, photograph three to four outfits, and incorporate hobbies, sports, instruments, vehicles, cap and gown, or other meaningful details.

Outfit changes and travel between locations are included in your session time. If you’re unsure which session fits your ideas, tell us what you have in mind and we’ll help you choose.

How do we choose outfits and locations?

Our experience is collaborative. Every senior receives a planning questionnaire and a style and location guide. We use the questionnaire to know which locations to suggest and discuss with you as we craft your senior’s portrait experience together. The style guide helps you and your senior plan their outfits, we can also make suggestions based on location, season, and vision.

Can I include cap and gown, sports, dance, or another activity?

Absolutely. Please let us know the hobbies, sports, or clubs your senior is passionate about. It will help us personalize your senior experience. Sports uniform, dance attire, instruments and other meaningful details will show what makes your senior unique.

How far in advance should we book, and what reserves our date?

We recommend booking two to three months in advance. Don’t worry if you waited until the end of the school year, simply inquire for available dates. Your session is officially reserved once we receive your signed agreement and 50% retainer.

Can a parent or guardian attend?

Yes. Parents and guardians are always welcome and required if your senior is a minor. They can help with outfit changes, hair checks, carrying personal items, and encouragement throughout the session. For seniors under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the booking process.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We monitor the forecast leading up to every outdoor session. If weather might prevent us from safely completing the session, we will work with you to select a new session date.

When will we receive our photographs?

Your carefully curated online gallery will be delivered within 2 weeks of your session. From the gallery, you can download your final high-resolution photographs and order professional prints.
